A rich educational climate exists in Shelbyville and Shelby County. Indiana Wesleyan University recently opened a satellite facility at Intelliplex, a multi-million dollar high-technology corporate park located at I-74 and State Road 9. Several fine colleges and universities are within an hour’s drive including Anderson Univerity, Butler University, Earlham College, Franklin College, Marian College, The University of Indianapolis, IUPUI, and Indiana University, Bloomington.

Children in Shelbyville and the surrounding area are served by outstanding educators within the Shelbyville Central School Corporation, including Middle School Principal, Denny Ramsey, who received Indiana’s Golden Apple Outstanding Educator award in 2006. Shelbyville High School recently completed a $36 million renovation.
